“The Bourne Supremacy” is the continuing quest of amnesic CIA assassin Jason Bourne. This time around he’s searching for the ones responsible for Marie’s death and the reason the are still-hunting him.
Matt Damon returns as the amnesic assassin Jason Bourne. This time around he has less to say but is more communicative with his facial expression and gestures. His performance is more powerful and brings the viewer in more of the story. “The Bourne Supremacy” and the series is successful in large part to Damon. He continues to the major of his own stunts and makes the viewer believe he is Bourne.
This time around the hunted becomes the hunter and Bourne is out for vengeance. Greengrass, taking over for Doug Liman shows just how dangerous and chaotic Bourne’s life has become and how calm, intelligent and calculating he is in it. Greengrass brings the action into the viewer face making them part of the action.
This continues the series started with “The Bourne Identity (2002)” . “The Bourne Supremacy” taking its name from the second book in the Robert Ludlum series but the film is totally abandon’s the plot of the book for a plot that deal more with the mystery of his identity and his quest to find out who he is. The different direction that film takes is more relevant to the modern times and appeals to the wider audience.
This DVD is full of special features. It has deleted scenes. Eight featurettes taking the viewer behind several aspects of the film from the action to technology that brings the action to the viewer. It also has a commentary by director, Paul Greengrass and cast and filmmakers spotlights. It has movie previews for “Shaun of the Dead”, “Collateral”, “Miami Vice, Season One”, and “Las Vegas, Season One”.
