”Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” is the fifth year of young wizard Harry Potter’s schooling at Hogwarts. This time around the wizard community is turning a blind ear to Harry and Dumbledore’s claim’s claim that Lord Voldemort has return.
The fifth in the series I found that this one met my expectation and still did an amazing job. Many critics have said that this film has lost its magic but I think that this film didn’t lose its magic its us that have lost the wonderment that the films brought. As this is the fifth film we expect to see the amazing imagination of Rowling on the film and each time the filmmakers deliver.
”Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” is still a great series but as it progress more and more of the subplots that make the films so entertaining are becoming lost in the creation of the films. This one being the biggest book comes in as the shortest film and about half the book is lost. For the next two films I think the writers of the film should tried to include more of the books in the films. It’s because of the books that make these films oh so popular and profitable.
At points in the film it struggles between being accessible to younger kids and still hold the theme written for a maturing audience. Just as the actors in the film are growing up, the characters are growing up and facing more grown up themes. The filmmakers are trying to make these film accessible to a wider audience not realizing that the audience that feel in love with these books in the first place are also growing other. They need to remember that the characters are aging just as the audience is aging and the younger reader will mature into the more adult themes.
Overall ”Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” does a good job of continuing the series. Even with the imaginative stories I think the filmmakers are starting to lose sight of their audience. They are trying to please to many audiences and should satisfy the maturing fan base and not the newbies to the series. Even with that as a fan of the book series I enjoy the movies and continue to look forward to the final two films.
I give it 3/5 Gs.
